This place is so photogenic

Our new office is like Venice – it’s impossible to take a bad photo of it.

Out of date business cards plus fluoro paper…

…multiplied by scissors, divided by sharpie, to the power of double-sided tape…
equals colourful confetti and a fun way to introduce ourselves to our Northcote neighbours

Studio love and hipstamatic

Can you tell we’re in love with our new studio? Graphic design be damned, I just want to build more Ikea shit.

Scenes from a design studio

We’re in.

Made it!

We have officially moved! Computers, Printers, Books and people all have a new house. It’s very exciting. The photos make it look like we have been there forever!

new studio pics

Well, we did it. There was coffee, there were extra pieces left over, and there was a even a little blood, but we got there. Check out the fruits of our labour.

the best graphic design

The best graphic design ideas I think, happen by accident. It’s hard to totally explain but look around you, or better still go for a walk and look around you. The solution to a layout problem can be found by looking at buildings and the way they sit next to each other and interact within environment. This view can be reformatted into a new layout matrix providing you with a graphic layout. A grid made by paving stones can become a new matrix for a font. I often go out on the weekends and take photos of all different interactions with things in the world, like buildings taken from different angles. Layers of stickers and graffiti in a phone box are made by many different people over an extended amount of time and are a rich source of inspiration.

graphic design me a sign

We recently did a new brand identity and graphic style guide for mud glass metal, a new shop in Healesville. These guys specialise in Handcrafted goods made in locally. Mud = pottery, Glass = Hand blown glass and Metal = Jewellery. A cool concept that we were able to use as an excellent graphic element. The shop is still being fitted out but I’ll post images when we go and see the finished product. In the background you can see one of the signs that goes next to the door. We had all the letters laser cut and attached to ply wood, then the final sign will be fastened to the shop facade.
