This is a sneak peek of an exciting new gallery coming soon to Melbourne. We’ve been working with M&M to bring their vision to reality.
an inspiration for the day…
we were driving down punt road and looking under the bridge right near Northcote station we saw a positive site and we tracked down the owners of the poster to this website.
My favourite artist dirtfish isn’t at Art Melbourne this year, but heaps of other amazing artists are. I can’t wait to see Catherine Campbell’s new drawings – I bought one of her artworks at a recent exhibition in Northcote and I’m sure her new collection will be beautiful. I’m a big fan of Ralf Kempken’s work too, especially his screens, and it’s only a matter of time before I have one hanging on my wall. Another favourite is Peter McLisky – one of his bunny cutouts sits at my computer, but one day I hope to have one of his giant sculptures.
Like all geeks, we’re excited to see how the iPad revolutionises epublishing, but that doesn’t mean we want real books to disappear. When the Australian Poetry Centre asked us to design the covers for the New Poets Series, we jumped at the chance. This is just a sneak peek of the finished product – the four poets will be reading from their four books at the Goolwa Poetry Festival “Salt on the Tongue” this long weekend. If you’re in Adelaide and you like poetry, check it out. By the way, we can’t take credit for this fantastic cover illustration for Chloe Wilson’s “The Mermaid Problem” – it’s by Remie Cibis.
The only link between these images is bright orange, but sometimes that’s enough. I’m like a bowerbird for orange at the moment. Must be because we’ve been spending so much time lately making an awesome website for Fitzroy Stretches.

wool + crochet hook + too much time spent watching tv = baby blanket
It’s too easy sometimes to just come home after work and mentally check out. I’m trying to make a conscious effort to do creative things in my spare time. My shoulders are a little bit cross with me for hunching over this blanket for a week and a half, but hopefully the end result will be a cozy and useful present for my first ever niece

This scrumptious Swedish cinnamon swirl is based on a recipe by Peonies and Polaroids. Here’s the recipe and here’s a pic of the final result…
The recipe makes enough to fill two cake tins. For a truly decadent twist, smear the rolled-out dough with butter, cinnamon and cocoa, then add dark chocolate chips before rolling it up. The only rule is that all the swirls must be eaten in one sitting before they get cold. It’s not hard to do.
