As young graphic designers we think about our impact on the environment. What can we do to help, how can we improve our approach to reduce waste, do you really have to print that, take the tray up the street when it’s your turn to get coffee.
We always push ourselves to create designs that have a minimal impact on the environment, but still remain functional and effective pieces of communication. Recently we have been working on a submission for Desktop Magazine’s cover design competition for Semi-Permanent Sydney, the theme is environmental sustainability. We really do feel quite strongly about our impact, on the environment. As designers for print, it is essential that we give all our clients and sustainable option for all our projects. We have spent many long hours sourcing great Melbourne based suppliers which specialise in eco-friendly print.
Oh and one last thing, would you like to see our cover design? It’s still a work in progress but we thought we could give you guys a sneak peak. We could change our mind tomorrow.
Who loves the smell of fresh print, we do! Just had a print job delivered. We recently finished a set of business and appointment cards for Burvale Heights Vet Hospital. We developed a corporate identity for the Melbourne based vet practice and we have looked after their printing requirements ever since.
We’ve been really busy in the past few weeks, but we have finally managed to take some time and update our online portfolio. It always seams to take the longest time to do things for yourself. I hope you enjoy.
Branding can come in many shapes and sizes, some good and some bad. If you take a stroll down a busy Melbourne street you can be overwhelmed with examples of branding. It’s my birthday today, and yes I’m 25 just in case you were wondering. I received a gift from my dear friends which has made me think, this could quite possibly be the best piece of branding I have ever seen.
It’s a simple green badge, a name badge, with the words “Hello, Do you like stuff”. “Yes” I said, I really do like stuff, all kinds of stuff. Maybe branding is something more than just a logo, it should be something that speaks to a person, even if it is as simple as a green name badge.
I think there should be more name badges in the world. Just think for a second, if you walked past someone and there name badge said “Emma, Buy some milk on the way home”, and your name was Emma, you would definitely buy some milk on the way home! Ok, maybe everyone not called Emma would think that it was a little weird but, I tell you what, that message would get through to that one person.
She would talk about it, tell her friends and then BAM! You’re speaking to everyone. What do you think, 3sidedsquare name badges?
